Publication Date:2016-12-13

On November 30, the completion ceremony for Phase I of Egypt EETC 500kV Power Transmission Lines Project (the Project) was unveiled.

Song Aiguo, Ambassador of China to Egypt, extended his warm congratulations upon the smooth implementation of the Project, and highly commended the joint efforts made by relevant departments of China and Egypt. Song said, during President Xi Jinping’s official visit to Egypt in early 2016, Egypt and China signed a series of cooperation agreements, including the Project. The major power infrastructure project undertaken by China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co., Ltd. (CET) under EPC mode involved upgrading of 1,210 km of transmission lines, with a contract value of US$750 million. Song hoped that the Project could provide a template for the two country’s further capacity cooperation, and he believed that the two countries will bear more fruits in various fields through practical cooperation.

At present, Phase I has been completed successfully and three transmission lines have come on stream, which reflect the sincere cooperation between SGCC and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt as well as the efficiency of the capacity cooperation mechanism between the two countries.

During the activity, CET and EETC signed agreements on personnel exchanges and training.
