Ethiopia-Kenya DC Project Recognized by Owners

On February 18 local time, Azeb Asnake, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation went to the ±500kV Ethiopia-Kenya HVDC transmission line construction site to inspect project progress, safety and quality, and fully recognized the project construction and management of China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co., Ltd. (CET).

When knowing CET has cultivated multiple technical teams of tower erection and stringing construction for Ethiopia by training, on-the-spot teaching, exam, issuing work license and other means, she expressed heartfelt thanks to CET. She said to the entourage, "State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has cultivated many technical talents of electric power infrastructure construction for us, bringing about world-class construction standard, and our two sides have established mutual trust and friendly cooperation friendship through project construction."

Ethiopia-Kenya HVDC project is praised as "the Electric Power Expressway of East Africa" by local. The Ethiopian government, Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation and several African countries' electric power utilities pay high attention to the construction progress of the project. CET contracts to build 445km power transmission line and 994 foundation steel tower of the project within Ethiopian territory. The project kicked off on August 1, 2016.
